About Me

Personal

My name is Chris Boersma, and I’m a software developer originally from Richmond Hill Ontario. I go by the nick name kungfuice and kungfuSiR. I use the later for anything to do with cars. I have recently moved (actually still in the process) to Waterloo Ontario to work for RIM. I have lived my whole life in Richmond Hill, so this new change will definitely be an adjustment, but I like Waterloo a lot, and I definitely love working at RIM so I know I made the right choice.

Code

I work mostly in Java, but when I’m at home enjoy working in C and Perl, and have slowly been learning Ruby as a side project. I have also worked heavily in C# and the .NET platform, but have focused more on Java, and C in the past couple of years.

Working Out

I have been working out since 1999, but really got serious in 2002 when I started following a strict workout and eating regime. It was my goal to compete professionally in some Natural Bodybuilding competitions, but some back injuries changed the way I look at working out. I do however still workout on a regular basis and couldn’t picture my life without regular visits to the gym, I just subscribe to a more balanced idea of how to integrate working out with my life.

You can checkout my Gyminee profile for what I’m currently doing at the gym.

Cars

As you can probably see from my car page, I’m a little fanatical about cars.  My true love is my 1999 Honda Civic SiR, I bought this car in 2001 after waiting 2 long years for it and have been tinkering with it ever since.  Although money has become tight while in school I have found ways to keep the project going.  For the past year though I have been unable to afford insurance so the car has been safely tucked away.  Now that I am finally done school I have been planning out the next incarnation of this beast and hopefully will have it back on the road in time for spring.  Keep your eye out on the site for updates!
